Bandai Namco Divests Limbic Entertainment, Studio to Return to Independence
Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe S.A.S. has announced the sale of its subsidiary Limbic Entertainment GmbH to an undisclosed private investor specializing in video games. The move, finalized on December 18, 2025, marks a significant shift for the German studio known for Park Beyond and Tropico 6, as it transitions back to operating as an independent entity.
Refocusing Strategy The divestment aligns with Bandai Namco’s broader strategy to streamline its portfolio and concentrate resources on areas where it delivers the “strongest content.” This decision comes roughly three years after the publisher acquired a majority stake in Limbic Entertainment in October 2022, following a minority investment the previous year.
Arnaud Muller, CEO of Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, commented on the transition, stating, “We’re proud of what the teams have achieved over the years and wish our friends at Limbic all the best with their projects as an independent studio.”
Limbic Entertainment’s Future Despite the change in ownership, Limbic Entertainment will retain its current leadership, studio name, and brand identity. Backed by the new investor, the Langen-based developer plans to continue its focus on the building and management simulation genre. The studio has a long history in this space, having developed the hit Tropico 6 and more recently Park Beyond, which was published by Bandai Namco.
