Obsidian Confirms Two DLCs and Ongoing Improvements for The Outer Worlds 2 in 2026
Obsidian Entertainment has announced ambitious post-launch plans for The Outer Worlds 2, confirming that two major DLC expansions are currently in development. The sci-fi RPG, which launched in October 2025, is set to receive “continual improvements” throughout 2026, including new features and quality-of-life updates requested by the community.
Two Premium Expansions on the Horizon In a recent end-of-year message via Xbox Wire, Obsidian’s Brandon Adler confirmed that the team is hard at work on the game’s premium content. These expansions were originally teased prior to the game’s release and are now a primary focus for the studio in the coming year. While no release dates have been set, players who purchased the premium upgrade edition will receive these DLCs at launch.
Focus on Player Feedback Beyond paid content, Obsidian is committed to enhancing the core experience for all players. Adler stated: “We have a ton of ideas – everything from new features to quality-of-life improvements that players have been asking for when we talk to them.”
This suggests that the studio is actively listening to community feedback to refine gameplay mechanics, ensuring that The Outer Worlds 2 continues to evolve well after its initial release.
A Big Year for Obsidian With The Outer Worlds 2 receiving substantial support and Avowed reportedly gearing up for its one-year anniversary update in February 2026, Obsidian Entertainment is poised for a busy and productive year, solidifying its reputation as one of Xbox’s premier RPG developers.
