Pikmin 3 Deluxe Nintendo Switch 2 Rating Surfaces Online
A new regulatory filing suggests the beloved strategy game is getting a next-generation treatment.
Nintendo Switch 2 owners may soon have another reason to revisit PNF-404. A new rating for Pikmin 3 Deluxe specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been spotted on the PEGI (Pan European Game Information) website, sparking rumors of an imminent enhanced release.
New PEGI Listing Discovered
The rating, which appeared on December 28, 2025, was filed by Nintendo of Europe SE. It lists the platform specifically as “Nintendo Switch 2,” separating it from the original 2020 Switch port. Like its predecessors, the title has received a PEGI 3 rating, noted for “occasional, very mild violence in a comical or abstract context,” making it suitable for all ages.

While the listing does not reveal specific technical enhancements, the “Switch 2” designation often implies native support for the new console’s hardware features, such as increased resolution (potentially 4K docked), higher frame rates, or improved loading times.
A Game Spanning Three Generations?
If confirmed, this would mark a unique milestone for Pikmin 3. The game originally launched on the Wii U in 2013, received a “Deluxe” port with extra content for the Nintendo Switch in 2020, and now appears poised for a third iteration on the Switch 2.
Fans have been clamoring for upgrades to the Pikmin series since the new generation began. While the Switch version of Pikmin 3 Deluxe received a minor compatibility update in June 2025 to fix screen flickering on the new hardware, a dedicated rating suggests a more substantial native app is in the pipeline rather than a simple backwards-compatibility patch.
What to Expect
Nintendo has recently released both free and paid upgrades for legacy titles on the Switch 2. With Pikmin 4 having recently received a content update in November, it seems Nintendo is keen on keeping the franchise active. Players are hopeful that this new version might include:
- 4K Resolution support for clearer visuals.
- 60 FPS performance for smoother gameplay.
- Dual-screen features utilizing the Switch 2’s unique capabilities? (Speculative)
As of now, Nintendo has not made an official announcement. However, regulatory board ratings are historically accurate indicators of upcoming announcements.
