In a year where the debate over Generative AI in video games has reached a fever pitch, the critically acclaimed puzzle game Blue Prince found itself in the crossfire. Following reports suggesting the title utilized AI-generated assets, publisher Raw Fury has issued a definitive statement: the game is 100% human-made.
The Accusations The controversy began after a now-retracted report from The Escapist suggested that Blue Prince—which recently won “Best Design” at PC Gamer’s 2025 Game of the Year Awards—contained generative AI art in its final release. The accusation struck a nerve in a community currently hyper-sensitive to the “slop” of machine-generated content, especially regarding indie titles praised for their unique aesthetic.
Raw Fury’s Response Raw Fury, the game’s publisher, wasted no time in setting the record straight. Taking to social media, they defended developer Dogubomb (led by Tonda Ros), emphasizing the long, human road to release.

“For people that need confirmation: There is no AI used in Blue Prince,” the publisher stated on X (formerly Twitter). “The game was built and crafted with full human instinct by Tonda Ros & his team. It is the result of eight years of development, fuelled by imagination and creativity, and we are extremely proud of what Tonda has achieved.”
The Context of 2025 The swift denial comes amidst a backdrop of “witch hunts” and valid concerns regarding AI in gaming. Recently, the title Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was disqualified from the Indie Game Awards due to AI usage, and Larian Studios (Baldur’s Gate 3) faced backlash for admitting to using AI for internal concepting.
For Blue Prince, however, the verdict is clear: its intricate architectural puzzles are the result of nearly a decade of human labor, not a prompt entered into a machine.
