Global Gaming Market Set to Smash Records with $197 Billion Revenue in 2025
The gaming industry is on track to end 2025 with a bang, as new data projects global revenues will reach a staggering $197 billion. According to analyst firm Newzoo, this represents a 7.5% year-on-year growth, surpassing earlier forecasts.
While the broader economy has faced its share of turbulence, the games market has proven resilient, with the upward trend driven primarily by stronger-than-expected performances in the PC and mobile sectors.
PC Gaming Surges with Premium Releases PC gaming, in particular, has seen impressive gains, with revenue expected to hit $43 billion—a 10.4% increase from the previous year. Newzoo credits this surge to a “strong slate of premium releases” that have managed to capture player attention despite an increasingly crowded market.
The report highlights the “Top 10 PC Releases by Revenue” for 2025, a list dominated by full-priced, premium titles rather than free-to-play giants. Some of the standout hits driving this growth include:
- Battlefield 6
- Schedule 1
- Arc Raiders
- Borderlands 4
- REPO
- The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
- Sid Meier’s Civilization 7
- Dune: Awakening

This data reinforces the continued viability of the traditional “buy-to-play” model on PC, even as live-service titles continue to hold massive player bases.
Mobile Remains the Titan While PC growth is garnering headlines for its double-digit percentage increase, mobile gaming remains the industry’s financial backbone. The sector is expected to generate approximately $108 billion, accounting for more than half of the entire global market’s revenue. The quiet but massive “churn” of mobile gaming continues to be the primary engine of the industry’s economic power.

A Shift in Franchise Fortunes Interestingly, the report notes some shifts in the usual hierarchy of gaming juggernauts. Activision’s Call of Duty franchise was notably absent from Newzoo’s top 10 PC revenue list for the year, a surprising development for a series that typically dominates sales charts. Conversely, titles like Civilization 7 and Monster Hunter Wilds have maintained strong financial positions despite mixed launch reactions or post-release challenges.
As 2025 concludes, the numbers paint a picture of an industry that is not only recovering but expanding, fueled by a diverse mix of mobile accessibility and high-quality premium experiences on PC.
