Ark 2 Delayed Again: Xbox & Game Pass Launch Pushed to 2028
Ark 2, the highly anticipated survival sequel starring Vin Diesel, has faced yet another significant delay. Studio Wildcard has confirmed that the game is now targeting a 2028 release date, marking a staggering eight-year gap since its initial reveal at The Game Awards in 2020.
Why the Delay? According to Studio Wildcard’s Jeremy Stieglitz, the team needs more time to “learn a lot more about how to make the kind of game we wanted to do.” Rather than rushing a standalone product, the studio plans to test mechanics and features through the Legacy of Santiago expansion for Ark: Survival Ascended. This iterative approach allows them to refine the technology and gameplay before the full sequel drops.
Vin Diesel’s Involvement A major factor in the game’s development and narrative scope appears to be Vin Diesel. Stieglitz noted that the story is “highly dependent on just how involved Vin Diesel is actually going to be,” calling it an “open question.” The team has contingency plans for the narrative based on how much performance capture they can secure from the actor.
Platform Details Despite the long wait, Ark 2 remains confirmed as an Xbox console launch exclusive and will be available on Xbox Game Pass day one.
